Masoor Dal Khichdi

Ingredients to make Masoor Dal Khichdi

  • Red lentil (masoor) 250gms
  • Dry red chilli - 1 nos
  • rice 200 gms
  • onion 1 large
  • ginger & garlic paste 2 tsp
  • 1 bayleaf (tejpatta)
  • turmeric 1tsp
  • ghee 2 Tbsp
  • Garam masala 2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil 3 tbsp

How to make Masoor Dal Khichdi

  1. Soak rice and red lentil in water in separate vessels and keep them aside for 15 mins. Heat some oil in a pressure cooker saucepan.
  2. Add bayleaf and dry red chilli. Later, add ginger garlic paste and green chilli. When it turns brown ,add onion.
  3. Wait for it to turn brown ,add rice and mix it well for 2 minutes and then add the lentil. And mix all the ingredients well. After that add turmeric powder and 2 glasses of water with salt, garam masala powder and ghee and cover the lid of the pressure cooker
  4. Wait for 2 whistles and then take it off the gas. Garnish it with coriander. Tastes well with pickle.
