Ingredients to make Orang and poppy seed bundt cake

  • 250gms butter
  • 200gms sugar
  • 3 eggs,
  • Rind of 1 orange
  • 55gms poppy seeds
  • 300gms flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 150ml milk
  • 125 ml orange juice
  • Syurp
  • 140gms sugar
  • 150 ml orange juice

How to make Orang and poppy seed bundt cake

  1. Preheat oven to 160c. Grease a 9 inch bundt pan.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy then add eggs gradually one by one .stir in orange ring and poppy seeds .sift in the flour and baking powder,then fold in evenly.
  3. Add the milk and orange juice stirring to mix evenly spoon the batter into prepared pan and bake in a preheated oven for 45-50 min or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 min then turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
  4. For the syrup : Place the sugar and orange juice in a saucepan and heat until the sugar melts.bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 min until reduced and syrupy
  5. Spoon the syrup over the cake while it is still warm. top with strips of orange zest and serve warm or cold.
