Dates and Walnut Cake

Ingredients to make Dates and Walnut Cake

  • dates 1 cup
  • walnuts 3/4 cup
  • Whole wheat flour 1 1/4 cup
  • butter 1/2 cup
  • Condensed milk 1/2 cup
  • Coffee powder 1 tbsp
  • Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda 1 Tsp
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp

How to make Dates and Walnut Cake

  1. Soak sliced dates in hot water for 30 mins. Once soaked drain and set aside.
  2. Take soft butter and Condensed milk in a deep bowl and whip together using an electric or hand beater until creamy and well combined.
  3. Add the flour, dates, 1/2 cup walnuts, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla. Mix it will with a spatula until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter in a greased tin dusted with some flour and bake it at 180 C for 55 minutes.
  5. Once ready cool it down a bit and unmold. Serve with tea or coffee.

My Tip:

This recipe is ideal for a 6 inch cake pan. The remaining batter can be used to make muffins.
