  • heavy cream 4 tbsp
  • Baking Powder 1 Tsp
  • salt 1\2 tsp
  • powder sugar 1 cup
  • ROYAL ICING - Icing sugar 1 cup
  • distilled water 2 tsp
  • Light corn Syrup 2 Tsp
  • clear vanilla extract 1\2 tsp
  • liquid or gel food colours

How to make Royal Icing Cookies

  1. Cream together butter, sugar, extracts and heavy cream. Stir in flour, salt and baking powder.
  2. Cover in cling film and refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour.
  3. Pre heat oven to 375 degree F.
  4. Roll out dough to 1\4 to 1\2 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter.
  5. Place in baking tray lined with parchment paper 2 cm apart and bake for 6-8 minutes.
  6. ROYAL ICING - Beat all ingredients except food colour till creamy consistency.
  7. Divide and tint with food colour. fill in piping bags.
  8. DECORATION - First outline, then roughly drizzle the interior of cookie with more royal icing and then evenly spread it with a toothpick.

My Tip:

Tip 1- do not over mix the dough, just work till everything comes together. Tip 2- keep close eye after 5 minutes of baking. We just need light golden colour towards the cookie edges. Tip 3- Don't add all water in icing at first, test in between for best consistency. Tip 4- Make sure your cookies are cooled completely before decorating.
