ABOUT Tri colour Jam Swiss Roll RECIPE

Add a little colour to the cake, a little home made jam and make it tasty for your kid.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Maida - 1/2 cup
  2. Sugar - 1/2 cup
  3. Eggs (separated) - 4
  4. Milk powder - 1 tbsp
  5. Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  6. Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. orange food color
  8. Green food color
  9. Strawberry preserve:
  10. Chopped strawberries - 2 cup
  11. Sugar - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg whites to form soft peaks. Add the sugar and whisk further to get a meringue texture.
  2. Now add the egg yolks into the above, one by one while whisking it.
  3. Sieve the flour, milk powder and baking powder together. Add this mix into the egg mixture in parts and fold it.
  4. Add vanilla extract and give a final mix.
  5. Take 2 tbsp of the mixture into 2 bowls each and add the orange and green food colors respectively.
  6. Now grease a baking tray (20cm *10 cm) and line it with a butter paper.
  7. Now pour the orange and green batters into piping bags and pipe the orange colored batter in small lines onto the greased tray.
  8. Bake it for a minute at 180 degree Celsius, in a preheated oven.
  9. Now pipe the green colored batter onto the tray and bake it for 1 minute again at same temperature.
  10. Now pour rest of the plain vanilla batter all over the tray and bake it at 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
  11. Once baked, remove it from the butter paper and roll it. Cover it tightly with a cloth and leave it cool for 1 hour.
  12. Mean while mix the chopped strawberries with the sugar and cook it for 10 minutes in microwave with occasional stirring. Leave aside to cool.
  13. Now dust fine sugar on to the working table/board, spread the rolled cake.
  14. Apply the strawberry preserve all over and roll the cake to form the Swiss roll.
  15. Cover it with an aluminium foil tightly and let it set. Open and cut them into pieces.
