Ingredients to make Veg dum briyani

  • Basmati rice - 1 cup
  • onion 2 [sliced]
  • curd - 2 tbsp
  • cumin seed - 1 tsp
  • cabbage [shredded] - 1/2 cup
  • peas - 1 cup
  • carrot [chopped] - 1/2 cup
  • green chilly - 2
  • oil/ghee
  • biryani masla powder - 2 tsp
  • ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

How to make Veg dum briyani

  1. Heat a heavy bottomed kadhai or sauce pan with some oil. Once heated, add the cumin seeds. Then add the sliced onions and saute till almost golden brown. Then add the ginger garlic paste, saute for few seconds.
  2. Add all the vegetables, salt and give it a stir. Add the biryani masala and cook further for few minutes. While the vegetables are cooking, boil the soaked basmati rice with water, salt and some oil.
  3. Add curd to the cooking vegetables, and stir. cook for few more minutes. Drain the rice when its almost done. Now add this rice on top of the vegetables, lower the flame.
  4. Close and seal the lid. cook this on the lowest flame for 35 minutes. Let this rest and mix it. serve.
