Ingredients to make moong dal burfi

  • moong dal - 1 cup
  • 1/2 cup - desi ghee
  • 1 cup - khoya
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 1 to 2 - green elaichi
  • Yellow food colour - few drops
  • pistachios - 1 tbsp (chopped)

How to make moong dal burfi

  1. Soak the dal for at least 3 hours and then make a paste in a mixer/blender.
  2. Heat ghee on a non stick pan and saute the moong dal paste.
  3. Fry on medium till it changes color and ghee begins to come out/separate out.
  4. Take 1 cup khoya, fry it and mix with the moong dal.
  5. Now in a pan take 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water, boil it till the sugar dissolves.
  6. Mix in the green Elaichi and two drops of yellow color.
  7. When both khoya and dal are mixed well, pour this sugar water mixture into it and put it on gas mix well till it gets thicken.
  8. In a thali spread ghee. Now put this mixture in the thali. Sprinkle some chopped pista over it and dab it with a spoon.
  9. Let it cool and then cut pieces and keep it in fridge.

Very nice :D Also do we initially fry the khoya separately and then only mix it with the dal?
