Ingredients to make Sticky Rice With Poppy Seeds Podi

  • Sticky rice - 1 cup
  • A pinch of salt
  • water - 1 1/4 cup
  • poppy seeds - 1/2 cup
  • Dry red chilly - 2 broken or use a super your taste
  • Few tbsps ghee

How to make Sticky Rice With Poppy Seeds Podi

  1. Wash the rice with water 3-4 times and add them to a pressure cooker.
  2. Add water, salt and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the pressure release by itself.
  4. Meanwhile dry roast the poppy seeds and dry red chillies till the poppy seeds crackles which will take 2-3 mins.
  5. Ground them with a help of mortar and pestle.
  6. Take out the rice in a bowl, sprinkle few tbsps of ghee and poppy seeds podi all over and mix well.
  7. Serve it with milk tea or black tea.

My Tip:

If you want it little sweet version opt out the salt and cook the rice. Add sugar in the cooked rice,ghee,poppy seeds podi mix well and serve. You can opt out the chillies in the podi if you don't want a spicy version.
