ABOUT Sticky Rice With Poppy Seeds Podi RECIPE

This is a Naga Cuisine. Since Nagaland doesn't have a breakfast concept, they have early morning meal and this dish is had to kill the afternoon hunger pangs along with tea.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Sticky Rice - 1 cup
  2. A pinch of salt
  3. Water - 1 1/4 cup
  4. Poppy seeds - 1/2 cup
  5. Dry Red Chilly - 2 broken or use a super your taste
  6. Few tbsps ghee

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice with water 3-4 times and add them to a pressure cooker.
  2. Add water, salt and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the pressure release by itself.
  4. Meanwhile dry roast the poppy seeds and dry red chillies till the poppy seeds crackles which will take 2-3 mins.
  5. Ground them with a help of mortar and pestle.
  6. Take out the rice in a bowl, sprinkle few tbsps of ghee and poppy seeds podi all over and mix well.
  7. Serve it with milk tea or black tea.
