About Garlic Murukku Recipe

Garlic Murukku is a best savoury snack for garlic lovers. This time when I went to India, I brought murukku flour. My aunt gave the flour and I wanted to try this murukku for long time back.We can also make with rice flour or besan flour too. You can also add chilli powder (optional)if you need spicy. I did not add as my kids does not like spice :)

Garlic Murukku

Ingredients to make Garlic Murukku

  • 250 gm Murukku flour /Rice flour
  • 3tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch asafoetida
  • butter or hot oil as required
  • salt to taste
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Garlic Murukku

  1. Peel garlic and grind it into a smooth paste by adding little water. Keep it aside.
  2. In a large bowl add murukku flour, cumin seeds, asafoetida , garlic paste and salt.
  3. Then add melted butter or hot oil and water to make a soft dough.
  4. Knead a dough by adding required water and keep it for sometime.
  5. Then keep the dough in press and use your favourite mould to get a shape.
  6. Heat oil in a pan , squeeze the dough and drop it in the hot oil and fry.
  7. Keep the stove in medium flame and fry the murukku till the hissing sound stops.
  8. Repeat the process for remaing dough.
  9. Once done place all the murukku in a tissue paper to remove excess oil.
  10. Store it in a air tight jar and enjoy the crunchy Garlic Murukku . Yum yum :)
