Chilli Fish

Ingredients to make Chilli Fish

  • Fish(boneless cut into small pieces) - 250 gm
  • onion(diced) - 1
  • garlic(chopped) - 4 cloves
  • capsicum(diced) - 1/2
  • red chilli flakes - 2 tsp
  • green chilli(sliced) - 3
  • Dark Soya sauce - 1 tsp
  • tomato Sauce - 2 tbsp
  • vinegar or lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • stalk of spring onions - 1/4 cup
  • salt
  • oil
  • For the batter:
  • all purpose flour/maida - 3 tbsp
  • Corn flour - 1 tbsp
  • corn flour - 1 tbsp dark soya sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • salt
  • water
  • To marinate:
  • Ginger garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • red chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • salt

How to make Chilli Fish

  1. Clean fish fillets and cut them into bite sized chunks.
  2. Marinate fish with ingredients listed under 'to marinate' list for 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Add the items listed under 'for the batter' list to the marinated fish.Sprinkle on little water so that the fish gets completely coated with the batter.The batter should not be thin.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the battered fishes until done.Drain and set aside.
  5. Heat little oil in another pan.Add the chopped garlic and fry until fragrant.
  6. Add the chilli flakes and the diced onion.Saute in high heat for a minute.
  7. Add diced capsicum and sliced green chillies and cook for one more minute.
  8. Add soya sauce,tomato sauce and lemon juice or vinegar and saute in high flame.
  9. Check for salt and add the fried fish pieces and saute for two minutes for the sauces to get nicely coated on the fish.
  10. Add chopped spring onions.Give a quick stir and switch off the flame.
  11. Serve hot with rice or roti.
