ABOUT Chilli Fish RECIPE

Chilli fish is a Indo-Chinese style of stir frying batter fried fish with a combination of sauces.You can use any boneless fillets for this dish.This tastes good with rotis,fried rice or by itself as an appetizer.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Fish(boneless cut into small pieces) - 250 gm
  2. onion(diced) - 1
  3. garlic(chopped) - 4 cloves
  4. capsicum(diced) - 1/2
  5. red chilli flakes - 2 tsp
  6. green chilli(sliced) - 3
  7. Dark Soya sauce - 1 tsp
  8. Tomato Sauce - 2 tbsp
  9. vinegar or lemon juice - 1 tsp
  10. stalk of spring onions - 1/4 cup
  11. Salt
  12. oil
  13. For the batter:
  14. all purpose flour/maida - 3 tbsp
  15. Corn flour - 1 tbsp
  16. corn flour - 1 tbsp dark soya sauce - 1/2 tsp
  17. Salt
  18. Water
  19. To marinate:
  20. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  21. Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
  22. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  23. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  24. Salt

Instructions

  1. Clean fish fillets and cut them into bite sized chunks.
  2. Marinate fish with ingredients listed under 'to marinate' list for 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Add the items listed under 'for the batter' list to the marinated fish.Sprinkle on little water so that the fish gets completely coated with the batter.The batter should not be thin.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the battered fishes until done.Drain and set aside.
  5. Heat little oil in another pan.Add the chopped garlic and fry until fragrant.
  6. Add the chilli flakes and the diced onion.Saute in high heat for a minute.
  7. Add diced capsicum and sliced green chillies and cook for one more minute.
  8. Add soya sauce,tomato sauce and lemon juice or vinegar and saute in high flame.
  9. Check for salt and add the fried fish pieces and saute for two minutes for the sauces to get nicely coated on the fish.
  10. Add chopped spring onions.Give a quick stir and switch off the flame.
  11. Serve hot with rice or roti.
