Ingredients to make Sarse sabuj Bhetki / bhetki fish in green mustard gravy.

  • Bhetki fish - 2 piece
  • mustard seeds (black )- 2tbsp
  • coriander leaves - 1 cup, roughly chopped
  • Green chili - 2
  • garlic pods - 4
  • lemon juice - 1tsp
  • turmeric - pinch off
  • salt - As required

How to make Sarse sabuj Bhetki / bhetki fish in green mustard gravy.

  1. Marinate fish with 1/2tsp turmeric and salt .Then fry both sides in mustard oil( 2 tbsp)..do not over fry..
  2. Soak mustard seeds in water for 30 mintues .Then put in a blender along with 1green chili ,garlic ,salt.little water..blend till smooth .
  3. Then another grinder add coriander leaves with one green chili.grind till smooth.keep aside.
  4. Heat same fish fry pan with remaining oil . (If required you can add 1-2 tbsp mustard oil) add mustard paste.rinse blender with water and pour water into the pan.add salt to taste ,pinch off turmeric .give a nice stir .
  5. Bring to bubble. Turn down flame.simmer it for 3-4 mins.
  6. Then add coriander leaves paste and 1/4 tsp sugar ..stir well with mustard gravy..again simmer it for 4-5 mins. Or till gravy reduce and oil separate...do not cover pan to retain the green colour.
  7. Then add fried fish. Stir well to coat with gravy. Simmer it uncover for 1-2 mins.
  8. Add lemon juice. .give nice stir.check seasoning. Ready sarse sabuj mach..
  9. Serve hot with steam rice.

My Tip:

I made it with bhetki but it can be make any fish of your choice.
