Ingredients to make Dal Makkani

  • 1 cup whole black gram
  • 1/4 cup kidney beans
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • 4 garlic (chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 Green chilli (chopped)
  • 2 table spoon ghee
  • 1 inch ginger (grated)
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 pinch hing [asafoetida]
  • 1 spoon coriander powder
  • Half spoon garam masala powder
  • Half spoon turmeric powder
  • Half spoon red chilli powder
  • 1 Spoon cumin seeds
  • 4 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 bay leaves
  • Half cup milk
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 2 cloves
  • Half spoon kasuri methi
  • Garnish with green coriander

How to make Dal Makkani

  1. Soak the dal for 30 minutes in water with kidney beans.
  2. In pressure cooker boil the dal with half of onions, half the tomatoes ,1 inch of cinnamon,cloves,Half cup milk and add Salt according to your taste. close the lid and cook it for 20 to 30 mins.
  3. Take a kadai put ghee in it let the ghee heat. Now add cumin seeds,bay leaves,hing,garlic and ginger saute it well for few second. Add all the spices cook it well.
  4. After few second Add half onions saute it well.Half tomotes saute it well. Add the boil dal and cook it well. Now add cream mix it well. Cook for last 5 to 6 mins.
  5. Now its ready to eat. Garnish with cream and green coriander.

My Tip:

Insted of ghee you cook in butter.Enjoy eating with rice and roti.
