Ingredients to make Tawa Whole Wheat Green Leafy Veggie Naan

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk ; warmed up with a tsp of sugar dissolved
  • 1 tbsp black seeds
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp parsley flakes
  • 1/2 a cup of coriander ; finely chopped
  • 1/2 a cup of spinach ; finely chopped
  • 1/2 a cup of purslane (kulfa)
  • 2 tbsp of fenugreek leaves(methi)
  • A tsp of salt

How to make Tawa Whole Wheat Green Leafy Veggie Naan

  1. Warm up the milk and add in the sugar . Once it is dissolved , sprinkle the yeast over the top and set aside in a warm place .
  2. Chop up all your leafies to fine texture so that they are easily incorporated into the dough .
  3. In a large bowl , add the wheat flour along with the leafies and salt and the seeds . Give it all a mix with the oil as well .
  4. With the addition of yeast milk , mix the flour well with your bare hands .
  5. Set it aside in a warm place.
  6. Once done , start by making portions . This dough makes about 16 - 18 naans .
  7. On a lightly floured surface , mould each section into an oval shape , It is easier to use hands to give them the right shape without much flour and it does not take up much time either . Just make sure that they are about half an inch thick .
  8. Do so with all your sections and let them rest for 20 mins in a warm place .
  9. On a medium flame , apply butter on either side and fry like how you would the rotis .
  10. Serve hot with some extra butter on the side or a great curry to go with !

My Tip:

Honestly , when I made them with wheat flour , I was given so much more appreciation . Because wheat's so much more delicious . I would recommend to switch over to wheat for breads and biscuits , for you will be shocked at the amazing and healthy taste it provides us with .
