ABOUT Milk Burfi RECIPE

This is a simple and mouth-watering burfi recipe that my mother has been preparing for every Diwali till date.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Besan (Bengal gram/chickpea flour) - 1 cup
  2. Sugar - 2.5 cups
  3. Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 1.5 cups
  4. Milk powder - 1/2 cup
  5. Water - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee lightly in a pan. Remove from the fire. Now add the gram flour (besan) and stir well ensuring no lumps are formed. Then let cool. Now add the milk powder and stir well. Keep aside.
  2. To prepare the sugar syrup, add the sugar to 1 cup of water and boil it. (Note that the consistency should be such that a pearl can be formed when a drop is spilled on a flat surface.)
  3. Once you reach the consistency mentioned, reduce the flame and add the flour mix. Stir well till the mixture starts to thicken. Then remove it from the flame. Pour in a tray and let it cool in a refrigerator.
  4. Slice in desired sizes and serve.
