ABOUT Doi maach (fish in yoghurt curry) RECIPE

Another delicious Bengali delicacy. It is generally made with river fishes but i made with herring fish(karli), it's equally tasty.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Fish pieces
  2. Onion 1, paste
  3. Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  4. Green chilly paste 1 teaspoon
  5. Cardamom 3
  6. Clove 5
  7. Cinnamon 1 inch stick
  8. Bay leaf 1
  9. Jeera 1 teaspoon
  10. Curd 1/2 cup
  11. Salt to taste
  12. sugar 1 teaspoon
  13. Mustard oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with turmeric and salt and keep for half an hour.
  2. Fry the fish in mustard oil for few minutes on both sides and keep it aside.
  3. To the same oil add jeera, bay leaf and the whole garam masala.
  4. Then add onion paste and cook till its lightly brown.
  5. Add ginger garlic and chilly paste, saute till oil starts coming.
  6. Add the whisked curd and mix well.
  7. Add salt, sugar. Cover it and simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Add the fish and simmer for five minutes.
  9. Sprinkle some garam masala powder and turn of the flame.
  10. Keep it covered and serve after 10 minutes with pulao.
