Smoky Dahi Chicken

Ingredients to make Smoky Dahi Chicken

  • Whole Chicken washed & drained- 1
  • Thick yoghurt -1 cup
  • Onions chopped -1
  • Ginger-garlic paste -4 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 3 tbsp
  • Coriander powder -3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder -1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking -21/2 tbsp
  • Crushed methi leaves/coriander leaves
  • Coal for smoking

How to make Smoky Dahi Chicken

  1. Marinate chicken with yoghurt, salt, garam masala and keep aside for half an hour.
  2. Take oil in handi /wok, heat oil and add chopped onions, saute till onions change colour, add ginger-garlic paste and mix well.
  3. Now add the marinated chicken and fry on a high flame, add all the spices and cook for a while.You can add little bit of water if you want a thin gravy.Cook till pieces get tender and well cooked.
  4. Now heat coal till red hot.Pour the prepared chicken in a dish and place the coal on the chicken in a piece of silver foil and pour little desi ghee( cover the lid fast to trap the smoke inside the dish).
  5. After few minutes take the coal out and garnish with coriander leaves , Enjoy with rumali roti or naan.
My Tip: Coal should be red hot and pour desi ghee for extra aroma and smoky flavour
