Ingredients to make Steamed rice balls

  • 1 bowl Cooked rice
  • 1 bowl wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • salt to taste
  • water as required
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • For tempering
  • 2 Tablespoons oil
  • 3 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 3 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 2 tablespoon coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 8 to 9 curry leaves

How to make Steamed rice balls

  1. Mix first 6 ingredients and make smooth dough
  2. Apply oil on your hand
  3. Now make small ball from the dough as you can
  4. Now take a momo maker or an idli stand to make balls
  5. Fill water in vessel and put stand over it. Start keeping all balls on stand one by one and cover it with lid
  6. Steam for 50 minutes now put a fork inside ball to check if it is properly steamed and cooked. If fork comes out clean ,then ball is ready. Turn off the flame
  7. Now it is time to tamper these balls
  8. Heat oil in a pan and tamper mustard seeds and sesame seeds curry leaves into it , then add chili , coriander and dry mango powder into , now add all the balls and coriander leaves to it . Mix well
  9. Steamed rice balls are ready. Serve with tomato sauce
