ABOUT Sel Roti RECIPE

Traditional dish of Nepal.But it is traditional dish of Simkim also because Sikkim is bordered by Nepal to West,as it's food is influence by Nepal.Sel Roti is a sweet,ring shaped bread(dough nut) made during Tihar.In Sikkim it is made during Diwali festival.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 cup rice(soaked atleast 5 hours)
  2. 1 Cup water
  3. 4 tsp oil
  4. 1 cup Semolina
  5. 1 and half cup whole wheat flour
  6. 1 tsp Baking powder
  7. 1/5 tsp cinnamon powder
  8. 1/5 cup sugar(as per taste)
  9. Oil for fry

Instructions

  1. Drain water from soaked rice and grind it with oil.
  2. Place in large mixing bowl then add semolina,flour,baking powder,cinnamon powder.
  3. In a pan heat suger with water and make thick liquid of it and mix into rice better and mix well.
  4. Heat oil in pan make sure that amount of oil is excess that when drop Roti in it,swim in oil for all sides.
  5. Now fill mixture in piping bag and make round shape Roti in oil carefully becouse oil is so hot,when one side cook flip it and cook other side to till light brown in colour.
  6. traditionaly serve it hot with mutton curry and pickle.
