Ingredients to make Fish pakora

  • Mangur half kg
  • Urad daal one bowl
  • salt as per taste
  • Green chilli 1
  • ginger 1 inch piece
  • garlic 4-5 cloves
  • oil for Deep frying
  • For marination: lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • salt 1 tsp

How to make Fish pakora

  1. Wash and soak urad daal for 3-4 hrs
  2. Wash fish thoroughly, mix all marinades and marinate it. Keep it in refrigerator for 2 hrs
  3. Once dal is soaked, drain excess water and add chopped garlic cloves ginger and green chili and grind to a coarse paste. Add salt to this paste as per your taste
  4. Remove fish from refrigerator and let it come to room temperature
  5. Heat oil in wok.
  6. Dip these pieces in the daal batter and deep fry. Fish tends to absorb oil initially, after few mins it starts to leave oil. Fry till it begins to leave oil.
  7. Serve hot with sauce or chutney of your choice

My Tip:

Coarse batter is crispier and tastier. I've used urad daal flour and rice flour also for batter when guests came suddenly but pre-soaked daal batter is tastiest and crispiest. Fish can be cooked without being marinated. Can be air fried also, settings depending on your machine
