Ingredients to make Foloi maacher muthaya( bronze feather back)

  • Fish meat ( flesh) - 1cup
  • Boiled smeah potato - 1/ 2 cup
  • ginger Paste - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric pwd- 1/2 tsp
  • For gravy
  • Dice potato - 1 nos
  • tomato chopped- 1 cup
  • cumin pwd - 1 tsp
  • red chilly pwd- 1tsp
  • Home made garam masala pwd- 1tsp
  • turmeric pwd - 1tsp
  • coriander pwd - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Whole cumin- 1/2 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1no
  • Whole red chilly - 2nos
  • mustard oil - 1 /4 cup

How to make Foloi maacher muthaya( bronze feather back)

  1. Take out two slabs from the central bone by a knife. Scoop out the flesh.
  2. Mix with boiled smashed potato, salt, ginger paste and chilly pwd.
  3. Make shape with palm impression as shown in the pic.
  4. Steam the muthaya for 10 minutes.
  5. Take out from water and deep fry in mustard oil and keep aside.
  6. In same oil fry the diced potato and keep a side.
  7. Add whole red chilly , bay leaf and cumin seeds.
  8. Followed by chopped tomato and all masalas except garam masala.
  9. Stir for a while and add potato and fish muthaya.
  10. Add water after 2 minutes and continue cook for another 5 minutes.
  11. Add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves.
  12. Dish is ready to serve with steamed rice.
