Lauki and Katla fish head Ghonto

Ingredients to make Lauki and Katla fish head Ghonto

  • lauki or doodhi 2 medium
  • Fish head 2 cut in half
  • Fish pieces 2_3
  • Green chilli 2
  • onion chopped 2
  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tsp
  • cumin powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • ginger paste 1/2 tsp

How to make Lauki and Katla fish head Ghonto

  1. Wash and peel bottle gourd
  2. Now chop them in fine pieces
  3. Chop onions
  4. Slit green chillies
  5. Make ginger paste
  6. Heat oil in a big kadai / griddle
  7. Fry onions until translucent
  8. Add ginger paste
  9. Saute for 2_3 mins
  10. Now add cumin , coriander and chilli powder
  11. Saute for 3_4 mins
  12. Add bottle gourd
  13. Mix well with the spices
  14. Cover and cook for 15 mins
  15. Water will come out , and the bottle gourd will be cooked well
  16. Wash and marinate fish head and fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder
  17. Keep aside for 15 mins
  18. Now fry them until red
  19. Add them to the kadai with bottle gourd
  20. Mix well , add salt and green chilli
  21. Again cover and cook for 10 mins more
  22. Now remove the cover and let all the water dry up
  23. Mix fish pieces with bottle gourd and spices
  24. Cook for 3_4 mins more
  25. Switch off gas and garnish with coriander leaves
  26. Serve with hot steamed rice

My Tip:

If you like you can add a chopped tomato also , when lauki is cooked fully , before adding fish.
