Onion Tomato Chutney

Ingredients to make Onion Tomato Chutney

  • To Roast:
  • onion 2 Medium
  • tomato 4 Medium
  • garlic 3 cloves
  • Dried red chilli 2
  • red chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • tamarind paste 1/2 tsp
  • jaggery small piece
  • For Tempering/Tadka:
  • mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Urad Dhal 1 tsp
  • curry leaves 5
  • Oil and salt as required

How to make Onion Tomato Chutney

  1. Roughly chop the tomatoes and onions. Take the mixer jar, add in the chopped onions and tomatoes along with garlic, tamarind, jaggery and red chillies, blend these together to form a puree.
  2. Take a kadai, heat in oil, add in the listed tempering ingredients and let them splutter.
  3. Then add in the onion tomato paste and saute well. Let it boil till the raw smell disappears.Cover with a lid and cook for a few minutes till it becomes thick and has a chutney consistency.
  4. Serve alongside hot idli or dosa.
