Who doesn't love a lovely dinner especially when dum biryani is in? Dum biriyani is a granduer dish. Its aroma filled with exotic spices, gives us a memorable resplendent experience. Its little time taking, but we can show how much we care for them with our dum biriyani

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken - 1/2 Kg
  2. Basmati long grain rice- 4 cups
  3. Water- 6 cups
  4. oil- 3tbsp
  5. Butter- 100 gms
  6. Yogurt- 2 tbsp
  7. Cloves-10
  8. Cinnamon stick- 2 inch
  9. Star anise-2
  10. Shajeera- 1 tsp
  11. Salt - as per our taste
  12. Chilli powder- 1 tbsp
  13. Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  14. Channa masala powder- 2tsp
  15. Garam masala powder- 2 tsp
  16. Onions-2 thin slices
  17. Tomatoes-3 diced
  18. Mint leaves- half bunch
  19. Lemon-1
  20. Ginger garlic paste-2 tbsp
  21. Bay leafs-3

Instructions

  1. As shown in photo, clean and soak basmati rice in 6 cups of water in electric rice cooker .add half of spices to it along with 2 spoons of oil and salt. Marinate cleaned chicken with salt, turmeric , chilli powder and ginger garlic paste .
  2. Heat a non stick vessel and add oil and butter to it.
  3. When hot, add cloves,cinnamon, star anise, shajeera, cashew nutsand then add onions anf fry for 5 minutes.
  4. Switch on the rice cooker
  5. In the non stick pan , now add ginger garlic paste and saute for few minutes.. next add mint leaves.
  6. Now add marinated chicken and fry for 5 minutes
  7. Now add diced tomatoes, salt, chilli powder and turmeric, Channa masala, garam masala and fry for 15 minutes. Let chicken cook in its own sauces.( see photo)
  8. Now add beaten yogurt to this mix to make the sauce tasty and creamy
  9. Cook for about 30 minutes and we are done . Now keep stove in very very slow flame.
  10. In the mean while our rice in rice cooker will also be ready
  11. Now arranging part of dum biryani. Add cooked basmathi rice to the chichen gravy in non stick pan. On the top of rice, add your favourite food colour 1 drop , lemon juice, little ghee, little salt and coriander leaves.
  12. Now close it with a tight lid. After 10 minutes, mix the bottom chicken gravy to the rice on top very gently without breaking or smashing the rice grain.mix it and then keep lid tight till we are ready to serve.
  13. For making our dinner special, we can arrange boiled eggs with onions and tomato salad with salt and chilli powder .
  14. Onion raitha, chicken curry and some fruits makes our dinner very special.
