ABOUT Drumstick Flower Pakora - Sajne Phooler Bada RECIPE

In the start of spring, drumstick flowers bloom. They are very nutritious & full of medicinal values. In my family we make curries & pakoras with them.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Drumstick flowers with stem - 250 gm
  2. Maida (refined flour) - 2 tbs
  3. Rice flour - 4 tbs
  4. Kalonji 1 tsp
  5. Green chillies chopped - 2-3
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Take fresh drumstick flowers (those still on the stems are fresh; the flowers start withering when they are removed) & remove all flowers including little buds from the stems.
  2. Dip them in water for a while & then drain the water with the help of a colander.
  3. Rest them for some time so the water fully drains out.
  4. Now in a bowl take the flowers.
  5. Sprinkle maida, rice flour, kalonji, green chillies & salt.
  6. Don't mix excess salt, otherwise Pakoras will taste bitter.
  7. Mix all with hand. Mixture consistency should be thick not goey so one can make balls out of it.
  8. Heat oil in a deep kadhai.
  9. Make balls out of the mixture, 3-4 at a time & flatten them in your palm & slowly drop them one by one in the hot oil.
  10. Deep fry all the pakoras.
  11. When they turn golden brown take them out in a kitchen napkin to soak away all the excess oil.
  12. Serve as snack or eat as a accompaniment with daal-chaawal.
