Tilapia Fish Curry/Kerala Style.

Ingredients to make Tilapia Fish Curry/Kerala Style.

  • 2 tilapia fish (cut into 2 pieces)
  • 8 to 10 curry leaves
  • 2 green chillies
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Paste Ingredients:
  • 2 medium sized tomatoes
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds

How to make Tilapia Fish Curry/Kerala Style.

  1. Wash the fish thoroughly and set it aside. Grind the onion, tomato, coriander leaves, ginger garlic and cumin to form a smooth paste.
  2. In a frying pan/kadai, add oil, when the oil is hot, add curry leaves, mustard, green chilli and garlic cloves. Once they start turning brown, add the paste, red chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powder, fry till the oil separates.
  3. Then pour in coconut milk, along with tamarind paste, salt to taste, 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  4. Then put in the fish pieces and let it simmer and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with plain rice.
