ABOUT Sattu ki puri RECIPE

Spicy and tangy flavour straight from uttar pradesh. Sattu Ki Puri is a traditional dish of Bihar. It is one of the most favorite dish of the people of Bihar. Sattu ka Atta is used to make this puri which makes it a very healthy dish as a lot of pulses and cereals are used to make the atta. For filling the Sattu Ki Puri, roasted gram flour is mixed with a lot of spices like turmeric, mustard, carom seeds etc. The filling gives the puris a very Savory taste. The puris are them made into small balls and deep fried till golden brown. Sattu Ki Puris can be a great snack with tea. The ladies of the house absolutely love these puris. These can even be paired even with green mint chutney or imli chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 250 gms wheat flour
  2. 4 cups Onions finely chopped
  3. 20-25 Garlic cloves
  4. 7-8 Green chillies
  5. Chopped coriander leaves
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1 Tbsp Carrom seeds
  8. 2-3 tbsp oil to knead the dough
  9. 250 gms Roasted gram flour
  10. 1/2 to 1 cup mustard oil for the stuffing
  11. 1 stuffed chilli pickle
  12. Oil to fry the puri
  13. 1 tsp turmeric powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add wheat flour salt and oil and knead a semi stiff dough using water
  2. Make a paste of garlic and chilli
  3. In a mixing bowl add the roasted gram flour, chopped onions, garlic and chilli paste, turmeric powder, stuffed chilli pickle, chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder, mustard oil and carrom seeds and mix well....mustard oil should be enough for the mixture so that it just starts to bind...
  4. Now take small doughballs make a bowl out of it stuff the filling bring the ends together and cover it....flat the puri in between the palm Start to heat oil in a kadai now fry the puri in to the oil on a medium heat till they turn golden brown in colour....you can even roll it out and fry it on a tawa till both the sides turn golden brown in colour....enjoy these puri with mango pickle or baigan ka bharta.....
