ABOUT Thalipeeth ( A Maharastrian multigrain flat bread) RECIPE

A healthy multigrain substitute for kids for Roti. Shallow fried Roti made of Ragi, Jowar, Soya, Yellow Maize, Besan, Rice and Wheat flour with added Urad flour and Moth flour too.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Ragi flour 1 tsp ( heaped )
  2. Soya flour 1 tsp ( heaped )
  3. Gram flour 1 tsp ( heaped )
  4. Yellow Maize flour 1 tsp ( heaped )
  5. Jowar flour 1 tsp (heaped )
  6. Rice flour 1 tsp( heaped )
  7. Urad daal flour 1 tsp( heaped )
  8. Moth flour 1tsp ( heaped )
  9. Wheat flour 2 tsp
  10. Ghee 1 tbsp
  11. Boiled and mashed potato 1 ( big)
  12. Finely chopped Spinach 1 tbsp
  13. Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp
  14. Zeera roasted 1/ 2 tsp
  15. Ajwain 1/2 tsp
  16. Sesame seeds roasted 1 tsp
  17. Turmeric powder, Red chilli powder, Salt to taste
  18. Dhania powder 1 tsp
  19. Sugar 1 tsp
  20. Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Mix all flours.
  2. Add masala, mashed potato, 1 tbsp oil and knead a dough with warm water.
  3. Now make balls of size you want to make thalipeeth.
  4. Heat a nonstick griddle , roll thalipeeth( little thicker than Roti ) .
  5. Place rolled one on a heated tawa , turn first side half cooked. Let second side cook little brownish.
  6. Spread 1/2 tsp oil and turn. Apply 1/2 tsp to other side. Don't over cook as we don't want to make it crispy.
  7. Serve with boondi / veggie raita or simply with plain curd.
