Ingredients to make Aate Ka Halwa/Wholemeal Flour Halwa

  • 1/2 cup aata /wholemeal flour
  • 1/4 cup + 3 tbsp pure ghee
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp chopped nuts ( pistachio, almond & cashew)
  • 3 green cardamom powdered
  • 1/8 tsp saffron
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar )
  • 1/3 cup khoya(Check notes

How to make Aate Ka Halwa/Wholemeal Flour Halwa

  1. In a separate vessel mix together water,salt,saffron & cardamom and bring to boil on a low flame.Keep aside
  2. Heat ghee in a pan.Add in aata/ wholemeal flour. Roast till light brown stirring continuously on a low flame.Add in the chopped nuts.Roast for a minute.
  3. Pour in the prepared hot water.(Add water carefully as it may splutter and can cause burns to hand).Keep stirring till all the water has been absorbed.
  4. Add in sugar & stir for few minutes. Add in khoya. Mix till all comes together. Serve hot.

My Tip:

-Khoya or mawa can be substituted with a mix of 1/2 cup milk powder + 1 tbsp pure ghee + 1 tsp milk.Mix all to form a crumble and add in to halwa for the substitute of Khoya -Jaggery can also be used instead of sugar. Dissolve it in water along with saffron and cardamon before adding to the halwa.
