Ingredients to make Bedmi puri.

  • 2.5 cups : wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup : Rice flour
  • 1/4 cup : urad dal
  • 2 tsp : fennel seeds
  • 2 tsp : Carom seeds
  • 1 tbsp : ginger paste
  • 3 tbsp : coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp : Asoefetida
  • 3 tbsp : red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp : turmeric
  • 3 tsp : Dry mango powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying
  • Few sprigs cilantro chopped (optional)

How to make Bedmi puri.

  1. Wash and soak the dal for 3 to 4 hours. After soaking drain and grind the dal to a coarse grainy paste.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients mentioned to the dal and mix well. By adding warm water little by little knead into a soft and non sticky dough.
  3. Meanwhile start heating up the oil for frying on a medium high heat.
  4. Divide the dough into small portions and roll out each ball into a 1/4 inch thick round disc.
  5. Fry them in moderately hot oil until puffed up and slightly golden.
  6. Drain on to a paper towel and serve them hot with Rasa wale Aloo sabzi.
  7. Perfect meal for cozy weekends.Make and enjoy.

My Tip:

Grind the dal to grainy texture and not paste like.
