About Ground Lemon Very Hot Chutney / Pickle Recipe

This is my friend, Zarina Cama Clowsley's recipe She is a great cook and if you just follow her you can't go wrong and that is exactly what I've done.

Ground Lemon Very Hot Chutney / Pickle

Ingredients to make Ground Lemon Very Hot Chutney / Pickle

  • 1 kg - regular ripe lemons
  • salt and black salt to taste
  • 3 to 4 tbs - red chili powder
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 2 tsp - hing / asafoetida
  • 2 cups - extra lemon juice

How to make Ground Lemon Very Hot Chutney / Pickle

  1. Clean and finely chop the lemons alongwith the skin.
  2. Add all the ingredients to the finely chopped lemons and stir well.
  3. Cover the bowl with a muslin cloth and leave out in the sun for at least 3 days. More if the sun is not too strong. Stir it at least twice a day.
  4. Once the skins are soft, blitz the mixture in a food processor until a smooth paste is formed.
  5. Store in a sterilized and airtight jar and enjoy

My Tip:

Make sure that the lemon skins are really soft before blitzing.
