Ingredients to make Meethe Chawal

  • Basmati rice 1 cup
  • sugar 1/2 cup
  • ghee 1/4 cup
  • saffron few strands
  • Yellow food colour -1/4 tsp
  • cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp
  • cinnamon stick 1/2 inch
  • cloves 3
  • Raisin, cashew chopped dry coconut -1/2 cup (fried till golden)
  • water 2 cup

How to make Meethe Chawal

  1. Soak rice for 15 minutes
  2. Soak saffron in warm water
  3. Take ghee in a pan add cloves,cinnamon saute for a few seconds
  4. Add 1 cup water and rice and cover. let it cook till water evaporates on slow flame
  5. In the meantime add sugar, saffron,colour in remaining water mix it at room temperature
  6. Add in the half done rice and add dry fruits
  7. Add cardamom
  8. Let it cook completely like normal rice
  9. Serve hot
