ABOUT Orange Strawberry Falooda RECIPE

The falooda takes on a modern avatar with the addition of orange jelly and fresh strawberry sauce. A colorful, delightful dessert to welcome spring & Holi festivities into our midst!!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Orange flavored gelatin powder - 100 gm
  2. Strawberries - 250 gm
  3. Sabja or basil seeds - 4 tsp
  4. Seviyan - 1/2 cup
  5. Sugar - 2 tbsp, divided
  6. Milk - 3 cups
  7. Vanilla ice cream - 4 small scoops
  8. Orange - 1
  9. Mint leaves - 4, to garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare orange jelly as per package directions, refrigerate and allow to set.
  2. Take chopped strawberries and 1 tbsp of sugar in a saucepan. Cook till strawberries break down. Mash or puree to make a thick strawberry syrup. Set aside to cool down.
  3. Soak the sabja seeds in a cup of water for 10-15 minutes. When sabja is soft and plump, drain excess water. Set aside.
  4. Cook seviyan in 1 cup of water and 1 tbsp of sugar till cooked. Cool down slightly.
  5. To make the falooda, add 1 tbsp of of sabja seeds in the bottom of a tall glass. Top with a few 1" slices of orange jelly, 1-2 tbsp of seviyan and 1-2 tbsp of strawberry syrup.
  6. Gently pour in ½ cup of cold milk without disturbing the bottom layers. Add a small scoop of ice cream of top. Top with fresh orange segments and more strawberry syrup.
  7. Repeat for all servings. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve chilled.
