Ingredients to make Bread Barfi

  • Bread - 6 pieces
  • Milk - 200 ml
  • Desiccated coconut - 1 cup
  • sugar - 125 gram
  • ghee - 2 tablespoon
  • cardamom Seeds - 5 (ground)
  • cashew - 8 pieces
  • Small pieces of 8 - 10 roasted almonds
  • Khoya - 1 tablespoon

How to make Bread Barfi

  1. Place desiccated coconut and sugar in a pan. Roast it for 4 - 5 minutes on a low flame, till it turns to a golden color.
  2. Meanwhile, cut the bread into pieces and soak them in milk.
  3. After coconut and sugar has been mixed thoroughly, add the mixture of bread and milk in it.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon ghee, and mix it well for 8- 10 minutes on a low flame.
  5. Once the mixture in the pan starts to dry up, add 1 tablespoon of ghee and khoya.
  6. Add elaichi powder and almonds to the mixture and turn the gas off.
  7. Take a tray or a utensil with uniform flat base, and evenly spread ghee over it.
  8. Spread the cooked mixture evenly on the tray.
  9. Place the tray in refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  10. After 20 minutes, cut the mixture in the desired shape.
  11. Decorate it with cashew and serve.

My Tip:

One can serve this barfi without keeping it in refrigerator as well. When in large quantity, you can keep it in refrigerator such that it lasts for 2 to 3 days.
