Palm Sprout Ladoo (Panangizhangu Ladoo)

Ingredients to make Palm Sprout Ladoo (Panangizhangu Ladoo)

  • Palm sprout or Panangizhangu - 6-8 s (cooked/steamed).
  • Coconut (sliced into small pieces) - a handful or two (according to your wish)
  • Palm sugar- 4-5 tablespoons
  • Finely chopped/powdered nuts - 3 tablespoons ( cashew, Almond, Walnuts etc.)
  • Ghee - 1/2 teaspoon

How to make Palm Sprout Ladoo (Panangizhangu Ladoo)

  1. Take the steamed palm sprout or panangizhangu and peel the outer skin and inner portion which is like a stick.
  2. Also peel off the extra fibres and slice them into small pieces.
  3. Blend the palm sprout slices and coconut slices in a mixer or food processor into a smooth consistency (not very smooth like paste).
  4. Take the mixture in a bowl . Add in the palm sugar , powdered / finely chopped nuts and mix them well
  5. Apply a drop of ghee in your hands and take small amount of mixture and make it into a ladoo .
  6. Do the same with remaining mixture. Make evenly sized ladoos .
  7. Garnish them with nuts and serve.
My Tip: You can also add white sugar. But adding palm sugar increase the nutritive value. You can also blend the palm sugar in the mixer with other ingredients if you don't want it to be coarse. If you want flavour, a pinch of cardamom powder can be added.
