ABOUT Gujiya RECIPE

Hoil is a festival of Joy & Happiness and the right platform to celebrate the gathering of colours. Holi is celebrated with great gusto with LordKanhaji, family and friends. On the occasion of Holi, I made Sweet Gujiya at home which is healthy and nutritious.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 cups Semolina i.e. Rava (2 cups for stuffing & 1 cup for dough)
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. ½ cup dried grated coconut
  4. 2 teaspoon - Poppy seed
  5. 10 gms- Cashew nuts
  6. 10 gms-Almonds
  7. ½ teaspoon - Rose water
  8. 150 gms- Veg Oil
  9. 1 cup milk or water
  10. 1Pinch salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Take 1 cup rava in a big bowl and add oil 2 teaspoons, a pinch of salt, milk or water to make a soft dough. Keep this aside for half an hour, covered with a cotton cloth.
  2. Take a deep frying pan add 4-5 teaspoon oil and bake the 1cup rava till light brown.
  3. Add roasted poppy seeds, dried coconut (roasted coconut remains tasty for a longer time) and add sugar. When this mixture becomes lukewarm remove from the flame. Keep aside for few minutes.
  4. Add cashew nuts, almonds and rose water for fragrance and sprinkle ¾ cup milk so as to swell the rava stir well. This is your stuffing.
  5. Make a puri of dough of rava and stuff it with Gujiya mould or give a shape of your choice
  6. Take a deep frying pan and fry Gujiya in Oil till light golden brown.
  7. This Gujiya will remain tasty for 15 days.
