Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. For gravy- Onion 3 big (finely chopped)
  2. Kolhapuri masala /chicken masala 3tbsp
  3. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  4. Kashmiri chilli powder 2 tbsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Lime Juice 2 tsp
  7. Chicken 1 kg
  8. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  9. Coriander leaves finely chopped
  10. To grind -Dry coconut pieces 1 cup
  11. Garlic cloves 8
  12. Ginger 1 small piece
  13. Coriander leaves 1/2 cup
  14. Cumin seeds 2 tsp
  15. Sesame seeds 2 tsp
  16. Water

Instructions

  1. Clean chicken pieces ,drain and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add half of the chopped onions and saute until onion turns translucent.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes.
  4. Add turmeric powder and mix. Now add chicken pieces and mix well , saute for 2 to 3 mins.
  5. Add salt and 2 half cups of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  6. Dry roast cumin seeds and sesame seeds.
  7. Grind together dry coconut, garlic cloves , ginger, roasted cumin and ginger , coriander leaves and water into a smooth paste.
  8. Once chicken is cooked remove from flame add separate the chicken stock and keep aside..
  9. In another vessel heat a little oil and saute remaining chopped onions until it turns translucent.
  10. Add the ground paste and little water and cook for 3 mins.
  11. Add kolhapuri masala or chicken masala and kashmiri chilli powder. Saute for a minute.
  12. Add the chicken stock and more water and let it boil.
  13. Add chicken pieces and salt and let it simmer for 5 mins.
  14. Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.
  15. Serve with rice , bhakri or roti.
