ABOUT Double Ka Meetha RECIPE

Double Ka Meetha is famous dessert which originated in Hyderabad and dates back to the Nizam rulers. The word double ka Meetha refers to milk bread which was called as double roti in olden days.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Bread slices - 6
  2. Milk 1 liter
  3. Sugar-1 cup
  4. Saffron- 5 strands
  5. Sliced pistachio, almonds, raisins,
  6. Elachi-3 (powdered)
  7. Any fruit essence
  8. Yellow colour- a pinch

Instructions

  1. Boil milk
  2. Add sugar, saffron, elachi, and let it cook in slow flame till it thickens.
  3. Add essense and chopped nuts
  4. Switch off the stove and let it cool
  5. In a seperate pan heat sugar and water and make it a thick syrup
  6. Now slice bread pieces diagonally and deep fry in ghee and add it to sugar syrup
  7. It looks like swelled in size and then add it into thickened milk mixture
  8. Now keep it in refrigerator and serve chilled
