ABOUT Fish in Chilli Sauce RECIPE

This is my friend Kyamas Anklesaria's recipe which he often brings to potlucks.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 medium sized onion (roasted)
  2. 6 kashmiri red chillies (lightly boiled and deseeded)
  3. 5 cloves garlic
  4. 2 inch piece ginger
  5. 3 cloves
  6. 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  7. 1 1/2 tbsp malt vinegar
  8. 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  9. Salt according to taste
  10. 1 tsp turmeric
  11. 2 Mackerels ( whole washed and cleaned).
  12. 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Apply salt and turmeric powder to the fish and set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Make a paste of the first 10 ingredients. You may add 2 to 3 tbspns of the water. Remember the paste should not be watery.
  3. Heat oil in pan and fry the fish and remove and keep aside.
  4. In the same oil add the paste and cook on medium heat till oil separates.
  5. Now add the fried fish and roll in the cooked paste till fully coated.
  6. Serve hot. Best with steamed rice
