Damm Ke Semiyan

Ingredients to make Damm Ke Semiyan

  • Ghee/Clarified Butter -1/4 cup
  • Milk -1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder-1/2 teaspoon
  • Water -1/4 cup
  • Semiyan- 1 cup (very thin semiyan preferred)
  • Sugar - 1 1/2 cup
  • Mawa/Khoya- 1/2 cup
  • Food color -1/2 teaspoon
  • Few saffron strings
  • dry fruits for garnish

How to make Damm Ke Semiyan

  1. First fry the semiyan in Clarified butter until they turn golden brown
  2. Take them onto a separate plate
  3. In the same pan,add some more clarified butter and let it heat for 1 minute.
  4. Then add milk and water carefully and let it heat until bubbles pop up.
  5. Now add semiyan,mix it thoroughly and immediately after 1 minute,add sugar and mawa to the semiyan and again mix all of them thoroughly.
  6. Let it cook until sugar and mawa melts totally.
  7. Now add food color, cardamom powder and saffron strings to the semiyan and mix well.
  8. Let it cook for 10 minutes and then switch off the stove.
  9. Let it cool and then serve it with some dry fruits.

My Tip: You can use condensed milk instead of mawa/khoya. You can also use 2 cardamom pods instead of cardamom powder. You can definitely avoid food color if you don't want.
