Ingredients to make Kolhapuri fish

  • Fish marination
  • Fish 5 pieces
  • Curd 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  • lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  • Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Masala to be ground
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Clove 6-7
  • Peppercorn 1 tablespoon
  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick
  • Desiccated coconut 2 tablespoon
  • Onion 1 medium chopped
  • Tomato 1 medium chopped
  • Mustard oil
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves

How to make Kolhapuri fish

  1. Marinate the fish with the ingredients mentioned under fish marination.
  2. Keep it marinated for half an hour.
  3. Take mustard oil in kadai, to that add bay leaf, peppercorns, cinnamon.
  4. After a minute add onions.
  5. After the onion turns translucent add desiccated coconut.
  6. After 2 minutes of sauteeing the coconut add tomatoes
  7. Cook it till the tomatoes turn mushy and loses all its water. Add salt to cook faster.
  8. Allow this mixture to cool down then blend it Indio fine paste.
  9. To the kadai add oil and add the fishes, cook on medium flame for 5 minutes till it's partially cooked.
  10. Pour the ground mixture with little water.
  11. Simmer till the fish is fully cooked. Check the salt.
  12. Add chopped coriander leaves and turn of the flame.
  13. Keep it covered for 10 minutes before serving.
  14. Serve hot with white rice
