Ingredients to make Chalimidi( betal leaf shaped)

  • Jaggery or sugar-1 cup
  • water-1 cup
  • Rice flour ( soaked whole night and drained on cloth for 1 hour and powdered)
  • Elachi powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Elachi and pista essence ( optional) only for this recipe.
  • Anjur laddu- small ball

How to make Chalimidi( betal leaf shaped)

  1. In a pan, add jaggery or sugar and boil with water
  2. When we get string consistency, switch off the stove and immediately keep adding rice flour little by little slowly and mix till it forms a dough.
  3. Keep 1 cup of rice flour but sometimes, we need not add full cup too.
  4. Form like a dough.
  5. Take two plastic sheets or ziplock covers and apply ghee to both sides.
  6. Place a ball of dough and press into leaf shape
  7. Make impressions like leaf and place anjur laddu and tutti fruity for decoration.
  8. In traditional method, in chalimidi, we add dry coconut , khus khus seeds.
My Tip: We can use home made rice powder too.
