Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the Dough -
  2. Maida 2 cups
  3. Oil 3/4 cup
  4. Warm water as required
  5. For the filling -
  6. Khoya 2 cups
  7. Sugar 1 1/2 cup
  8. All dry fruits 1 cup
  9. Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  10. For sugar coating -
  11. Sugar syrup 1 string consistency

Instructions

  1. Take maida in a big bowl and add oil to it and mix it properly such that it becomes like bread crumbs.
  2. Now make a smooth dough by adding little water at a time.
  3. Cover the dough with wet cotton cloth for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Now for the filling roast the khoya in a heavy bottom kadhai, properly and let it cool a bit.
  5. Now add grounded sugar and the dry fruits (coconut, raisins, chirongi, almonds ,and walnuts).
  6. Mix properly and keep aside.
  7. Take one bowl of water and add one spoon of maida to it and mix it.
  8. Now make small balls out of the dough and roll out a thin just like chapati using a rolling pin.
  9. Now keep it in your palm and keep 1 spoon full of the khoya filling in the centre.
  10. Now fold it from left end and keep the other end over it. It would look like a straigh line. Now apply the maida paste made in step 7 on both the left over ends and close them tightly, to make a complete sqare shaped.
  11. Fix the uppermost end by pressing a Laung at its top, so that the piece remains intact.
  12. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the dough.
  13. Now heat oil in a heavy bottom pan. Once the oil is properly heated, slow down the flame and put the raw Laung lattas and fry them all in batches
  14. These must be fried at low flame so that they get cooked from inside
  15. Now when the frying part is done, make sugar syrup in a pan until it gets one string consistency.
  16. Add one cup sugar to one cup water and give it a boil. Take a a bowl of water and when the syrup starts boiling, check it by dropping a drop of the syrup in water. If the drop spreads out, means it's not done, and if the drop goes in the water and gets a perfect round shape, means it is done.
  17. As soon as one string consistency is attained, add all the Laung lattas and give a proper mix until the sugar gets dried.
  18. Keep them aside and let them cool.
  19. Serve it to it family and enjoy
