Hot Milk Cake

Ingredients to make Hot Milk Cake

  • Granulated sugar -1 cup
  • All purpose flour/maida-1 1/2 cup
  • Eggs-2 (vegetarians can add 1/3 cup beaten curd)
  • Baking powder -1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Baking soda-1 pinch
  • Milk-3/4 cup
  • Butter-1/4cup
  • Vanilla essence -2 teaspoons

How to make Hot Milk Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C
  2. Grease a medium sized cake pan with butter.
  3. Start by combining milk and butter in heat proof bowl, heat the mixture over low flame until butter has melted (make sure it does not boil. It has to be heated). Add vanilla essence and mix.
  4. Take another bowl, add eggs or beaten curd or condensed milk and sugar, mix very well until combined.
  5. Add the milk-butter mixture to the eggs and sugar mixture gradually and beat until combined.
  6. Take another bowl,add flour /maida, baking powder,baking soda and mix.
  7. Gradually add dry mixture to the wet mixture,then fold with spatula until the dry and wet ingredients are well combined.
  8. Then pour the cake batter into the cake pan, tap the pan a couple of times so the batter is spread evenly and there are no air bubbles.
  9. Bake at 180 degrees C for 40 minutes. Test with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready

My Tip:

In many recipes, butter can be replaced with oil, but here the main ingredients are milk and butter, so do not replace butter with oil.
