ABOUT Onion Tomato Chutney RECIPE

Onion Tomato Chutney is a little tangy and spicy, well I love my chutneys be it the chutneys using coconut or the one without. This onion tomato chutney is quick fix chutney with very simple ingredients

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Onion 2 thinly sliced
  2. Tomato 2 roughly chopped
  3. Dry Red chillies 5-6 N
  4. Asafoetida (Hing) 1 tsp
  5. Urad Dal 1 tbsp
  6. Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. oil for cooking
  9. Mustard for tempering
  10. Curry leaves for tempering

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in pan add urad dal and fry until it turns brown in color
  2. Add hing and fry for a second and then add onion and fry until it turns pink in color
  3. Add tomato,salt,turmeric powder and cook until raw smell of tomato goes off.
  4. Switch off the flame and allow it to cool down
  5. Grind this mixture to a smooth paste
  6. For tempering, heat oil, splutter some mustard and curry leaves fry for 1min and switch off the flame.
  7. Serve this yummy chutney with Dosa or Idli
