Raw Banana Moong daal Dahi Vada

Ingredients to make Raw Banana Moong daal Dahi Vada

  • 1 cup thick and smooth chilled curd
  • 4 raw bananas
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp Grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup moong dal ,soaked for half an hour
  • oil to fry
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • For tamarind chutney -
  • 8-10 raisins
  • 1/4 cup crushed or grated jaggery
  • 1/4 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1/4 cup tamarind(soaked in warm water for half an hour)
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds

How to make Raw Banana Moong daal Dahi Vada

  1. Boil raw bananas in a pressure cooker.
  2. Once done allow them to cool.
  3. Grind soaked moong daal and boiled bananas
  4. In the mixture add garam masala , grated ginger , asafoetida and whisk until batter is smooth.
  5. Drop a pinch of mixture in water, if it comes up vada's are ready to fry else whisk more.
  6. Heat up oil at medium flame and fry medium sized vadas until light golden brown.
  7. Once done soak the vada in luke warm water for aminute and squeeze water out of them and allow to cool.
  8. For tamarind chutney -
  9. Sieve soak tamarind through a strainer to get the pulp
  10. Heat a pan on low flame , add cumin seeds, salt and red chilly powder.
  11. Add tamarind pulp and 1/4 cup water ,followed by jaggery.
  12. Allow it to cook on low flame .
  13. When the mixture is reduced to half , switch off the flame add raisins and allow to cool.
  14. To assemble -
  15. Place the vadas in the bowl, pour some chilled curd on top followed by tamarind chutney.
  16. Sprinkle some black pepper and salt .
  17. Serve.
