Masala Aloo

Ingredients to make Masala Aloo

  • Potatoes 1/2 inch pieces,6 large
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Carrem seeds 1 tsp
  • Oil 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander pwd 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric pwd 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander leaves 2 tbsp

How to make Masala Aloo

  1. Take raw potatoes, peel and wash them.
  2. Cut into small pieces or cubes.
  3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add asafoetida, cumin and carrem seeds and sauté till it changes colour.
  4. Add potato cubes and stir carefully till the oil covers all the potato cubes well.
  5. Let it cook on high flame (Without lid) till all the potatoes get crispy from outside and soft or cooked from inside. It will take around 10-15 mins. Stir on regular intervals.
  6. Add salt, red chilli powder, coriander pwd , turmeric pwd and garam masala and mix well.
  7. Add lemo juice and mix well.
  8. Add coriander leaves, chopped green chilies and stir. Serve hot,

My Tip:

Serve it with parantha, or add curd and tamarind chutney to make crispy aloo chat.
