Instant Rava Appam

Ingredients to make Instant Rava Appam

  • 1 cup - Rava/suji/semolina
  • 1 - Onion
  • 3 to 4 tablespoon - curd or 1 cup - buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon - oil + oil for pan
  • 1/4th tablespoon - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4th tablespoon - Urad dal
  • 4 to 5 - Curry Leaves
  • Salt to Taste

How to make Instant Rava Appam

  1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and curry, allow them to splutter. Then add urad dal and cook till it turns brown in color.
  2. Now add finely chopped onions and sprinkle some salt, cook till the onions are translucent.
  3. Take rava in a bowl and add some curd or butter milk.
  4. If you have added curd then add some water and make it in a batter form.
  5. Now add the onion mixture we prepared and mix, keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  6. Heat the appe skillet and add a drop of oil in each of it's grooves.
  7. When the oil is hot enough add a spoon full of rava mixture we prepared in each appe grooves.
  8. Cover the pan with any plate or lid and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.
  9. Flip the appam with the help of a spoon and cook for another 2 minutes. Instant rava appam/appe/paniyaram are ready. Serve them hot with peanut & coriander chutney.
My Tip: You can grated vegetables like carrot, capsicum, beetroot etc.
