ABOUT Thepla Roll with french fries filling RECIPE

Thepla is a good tiffin idea as it has all the goodness of green leafy veggies. Sometimes it is very difficult to convince your child to eat only thepla. So here is an interesting combo of thepla with homemade french fries.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. To make theplas : Multigrain atta 1 cup
  2. Methi leaves1 cup chopped finely
  3. Coriander leaves 2 tablespoons finely chopped
  4. Spring onions chopped - 2
  5. Turmeric powdertsp
  6. Roasted jeera powdertsp
  7. Red chili powdertsp
  8. Oil 2 tablespoon + more for making thepla
  9. dahi/curds - 3 to 4 tsp
  10. For the French fries: 4 - big potatoes
  11. oregano & chilli flakes as desired
  12. mayonnaise - 5 to 6 tsp
  13. Tomato sauce - 3 to 4 spoons
  14. cheese slices 4

Instructions

  1. Theplas: Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Finally add the two tbsp of oil to coat the dough and knead until it is firm and smooth. Cover and allow the dough to rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Roll into balls, flatten them with the palm of your hand. Toss them in flour and roll them out into thin circles to approximately 6 inches in diameter.
  3. Cook them on skillet by basting some oil on both sides.
  4. French Fries: Boil potatoes, cool it & peel and cut into long strips and deep fry on high flame till golden brown. Remove and drain on kitchen towel. Add some salt, chili flakes, oregano and mix well.
  5. Now Assemble: Spread some mayo on the thepla, tomato ketchup, cheese slice cut into half and some french fries in the middle and roll it.
  6. Serve with some more mayonnaise & Sauce or chutney.
