Barley roti

Ingredients to make Barley roti

  • Wheat flour 1 cup
  • Barley flour 3/4 cup
  • Salt
  • Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Green chillies chopped
  • Curry leaves few torn into pieces
  • Grated ginger 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin 1/2 tsp
  • Water

How to make Barley roti

  1. Add all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix them.
  2. Add water as required to make a soft dough.
  3. The dough should be softer than we make for chapati.
  4. Rest the dough for 30 minutes
  5. Make balls out of the dough as done for rotis
  6. Spread the balls on a plastic sheet or banana leaf with help of oil
  7. Heat tawa. Add some oil or ghee. Place the roti on tawa and cook on both sides.
  8. Serve with green chutney or ketchup or coconut chutney
My Tip: I prepared barley flour by roasting barley dalia and powdered it using mixie. If you don't get barley flour u can prepare as i did. Roast the dalia to golden brown color and then powder the same. Also, you can add poha to the dough to get softness. Soak poha for 30 minutes then smash it well with your hands and then add to the given ingredients.
