A very simple & tasty recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Roasted sooji - 1 cup ( 350 ml)
  2. Onion - 2 big chopped
  3. Tomato - 1 small
  4. Ginger - half inch piece finely chopped
  5. Green chilli - 4 cut small
  6. Curry leaves - few
  7. Coriander leaves for garnish
  8. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  9. Split urad dal - 1 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Ghee - 1 tbsp
  14. Oil - 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  15. Lemon juice - a few drops (optional)
  16. Water - 4 times sooji ( that is 4 cups) And use same cup for measuring water & sooji
  17. For garnish you can use fried cashews also

Instructions

  1. Take a kadhai put oil. When hot add the mustard seeds & after it splutters add split urad dal.
  2. Then add the chopped onions, ginger, green chillies & curry leaves.
  3. Saute well for a few minutes. Then add the turmeric powder & red chilli powder.
  4. Then add chopped tomatoes. Cook till soft. Add salt & then pour water.
  5. Bring to boil. Add lemon juice if you want. Add ghee and mix well.
  6. Once the water starts boiling, reduce the flame and then put the rava slowly with left hand & with right hand continuously keep stirring it or else lumps can be formed.
  7. Then let it cook for a minute. Turn off the gas and garnish with coriander leaves .
  8. Serve hot with chutney or can be eaten plain.
  9. If you like add fried cashews on top.
  10. Ready to be served.
